'morning all, I've been touring the Forums trying to find tips on how to edit. I've tried twice to correct a typo in the surname of "Pendlebury" on my list but it's still not right. What to do next please? |banghead|

It should be sorted if you use the Edit button and remember to save the edit :)
If not, then send me a PM with the details of the relevant thread and I can edit the error for you if it will help.

After you click on edit in your post, and make the change/s, you then select 'save'. It will not save on the preview pane, but on the edit view.

Thank you Mark & ChristineR, I've just done all that again, went well but when I clicked on my 'user CP' it doesn't show correction. Is it something that takes a while?
cheers Wendy

It could be that your browser is showing a cached version of the User CP. If the entry is the "Names being researched" thing in your User CP, then here it shows as PENDLEBURY
Is that correct? If so, then try refreshing your page (either using the Refresh thing in your browser which will depend on the browser you use or press Ctrl+r to refresh the page)

Again thank you Mark, if it shows as PENDLEBURY to you that is correct, on mine it still comes up as "pPndlebury". I don't want to show disrespect to folk of the same name.Having used the 'refresh' button still no change on mine.May have to leave it as is. Thank you for your help.
cheers Wendy

I copied it exactly as it displayed to me Wendy, so it should be correct. It looks like a cache problem to me in this case. It should correct itself later on, but if it hasn't sorted itself out tomorrow, please PM me and I will see what I can do to fix it.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Waitabit Wendy,
when I looked at your user profile, it shows the corrected spelling to me too.
I didn't read your original post properly - thinking you meant editing a normal posted message.
ChristineR. :)

Wendy - have you tried logging out and logging in again? This clears cached images in most cases.

It certainly shows correctly here Wendy. I have re-checked the spelling this morning and all looks fine.
With regard to the other post about Pettit, are you unable to access a particular section of the forum? If so, let me know and I can hopefully fix that if it is an issue at this end.
Cheers,
Mark
