Hi - my first time on here so bear with me if I get things wrong or waffle a bit!

Trying to help my friend with her tree and we are getting nowhere. Can't find the marriage for John England to Mary Perryman. They were in Exeter Holy Trinity area in 1841 census and had 8 mth old daughter called Louisa. Can't find a birth entry for the child either. They were not very old at the time and feel they couldn't have been married very long. The couple moved to London shortly after as their next child Caroline was born in Paddington in 1842. John is listed as coming from Kenton and was a carpenter by trade. Wondering if they married before 1837 or if Mary married before and was widowed (although every possibility I have tried has come up with blanks). I have even tried searching as if baby Louisa was illegitemate.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Coralie,

there is a Mary Perriman marrying in Exeter Sep 1838 10 135, amongst the possible spouses listed, there is a John Henley.
Is it possible this is the marriage you're looking for? John may've been baptised England, but if his mother remarried, he would probably have taken on his stepfathers name, it happened often. Then perhaps he reverted back to England later. Could be why you can't find Louisa's birth either. Just an idea.
