Hi everyone,
since 1992 I have been researching the North African Campaign. Mainly Prisoners Of War. P.O.W. Camps in Libya and the loss of P.O.W. at sea 1941 to 1943.
My interest was triggered when I discovered the circumstances of my Fathers death.
Recently using T.N.A. Records I have produced a Catalogue by name of all WW2 Escapers and Evaders Reports that are available.

Hi
Can you direct me in the right direction of the catologue.
My Grandfather was a WW2 evader, although not in North Africa (he got left behind trying to get back to Dunkirk) he was hidden in France until liberated in September 1944.
My Grandfathers name was Ernest Jones of the Royal Welsh Fusilers
He did have a companion with him during this time, A Guards bandsman called Patching.
Any help would be welcome
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
there are 97 Files containing E &E Reports. Your Grandfathers Report will be in the group WO208/3298 through to WO208/3122. Unfortunately they are not listed Alphabetically, but by year so you would need to check the files for the relevent year.Given the time I will look through my catalogue for him.
There is another thought though. I have found that some who Evaded until the area was liberated didn't make a report in the E & E Files. They made reports in WO344 which cover those liberated. These are listed Alphabetically.
I'll get back to you.

Hi Rob,
what I have is a Fus.E.T.Jones 7th Btn.Royal Welsh Fusiliers. If this is your Grandfather the File you want is WO208/3323. Report No.2502
You could go to The National Archives Web site and order a copy, either a paper one or digital. The costs are given.
I did mislead you in my earlier message; the E & E Files I was refering to finished at WO208/3327 not 3312. The latter No.refers to total Reports made.
Hope this helps.
Brian
