My name is Bill Hide and I have been in the Army, a primary school teacher and computer trainer, I have been chasing my ancestors on and off for a few years now.
I am back to about 1670 in my HIDE line, but am really more interested in the lives of my more recent ancestors.
My main brick wall is that my maternal g grandfather went under various names (Tomnay, Tomney, Tomily, Tomerey) and for the census said he was born in Ireland although when he enlisted in the Army it was in Glasgow. I can't find a marriage, circa 1874, so am unable to confirm his place of birth.
