Mary Owen gave birth to a son Robert on the 10th May 1866 at The Armory Barracks Cirencester, the father, Staff Sergeant Robert Owen. I would like to obtain information as to when and where they married. From the census of 1871 onwards I have traced the family but it is the marriage details that I have been unable to locate.|help|
Thank you,
Joe.

Hello Joe,
Was OWEN Mary's maiden name as well as her married name?
If the maiden name is not known, you would be able to trace it from Robert Junior's birth certificate.
However, the only Robert Owen that I can find in Cirencester didn't have his birth registered until the December quarter:

The birth is included in the regimental registers of births 1761-1924.
I suspect that the wedding may be in the regimental registers of marriages, as suggested on one of Joe90's other threads.

Geoffers - if an event is included in the regimental registers, does that mean that it's exempt from being recorded in the usual registers or can it appear in both?
Thanks,
Geoffers

Some appear twice (my grandmother does), but there is not need for an event in regimental registers to also appear in the GRO index - it isn't a scientific study, but having just looked at 10 regimental births in England at random none of them were also in the GRO index.
