After being lost for many weeks the Dictionary of Welsh Biography is now back on line – hooray!
It’s re-appearance does come with a warning from the National Library, however:
Warning to Users
We apologise that Welsh Biography Online has not been online over the last few weeks. Following an unfortunate incident the server supporting WBO suffered a catastrophic event that destroyed the server's hard disk. Then, after putting the resource back online on another server it suffered an unauthorised and anonymous incursion so that it had to be taken offline again. We are now offering it online on a new server with upgraded software and increased security. At the same time we are working on a new version that we hope to publish on the Web in the following weeks. However, we would warn our users that this present version retains some glitches in the search and display functions and we ask you to be patient until we have resolved these problems with the forthcoming new version.
