St Columb ;)
Hawkens in St Columb eh? Not including a Richard Hawken from the mid 1700s by any chance Mike? A gent by that name was named on a bastardy order in respect of a child born to a Patience Crapp, from whom my family is descended.

Not my tree, (Wife's) so not done too much with it. Can't find Richard on it, not to say he doesn't belong though? I have 3 Crapp's, and would find more if I start looking at Annette's tree again.
Thomas - 1853 ish - Mary James - 1845
2 children I have are:-
Ada - 1881
Frank - 18 Oct 1883
Do this crowd match yours?

Quite likely, although those don't ring a bell with me.
I have a Thomas from that era, but mine married a Mary Jane OLD, so that isn't the same one. However, there were loads of them in St Columb in the 1800s.
Now, if you *can* find a link to the family of Patience or her bastard son, James, I can provide you with some really interesting stuff - Battle of Trafalgar link, a really gruesome murder....

At present we have 11 day old twins in the house so my thinking is a little out of sorts at present. My Hawkens were at Padstow where my Elizabeth was born and baptised in 1786, I think it was and then they moved to Wadebridge where Rebecca and James had a store. James may also have been involved in the salt trade while living in Padstow. James and Rebecca both died in Wadebridge. Rebecca's parents were Richard Lean and Mary Dingle. Rebecca and James daughter Elizabeth married William Mudge a, tanner at Egloshayle in 1814 and their 1st daughter was baptised at Egloshayle their later children being baptised at Lostwithiel. Their eldest son James Hawken Mudge married Mary Elizabeth Geach and they emigrated to Australia. Other names associated with the family were Symonds, Southerin, Rogers Jeele, Barrett Billings and Tom.

well if you have Old's I think we need to compare notes. The wifes mother was an Old, and I have many of them on the tree. Best I give you a link to my tree on A....... then you can look to your hearts content. It was an Old's marriage to a Hawken that got me down that path. I'll PM you.
