Hi Everyone
As my log on name suggests I am researching my Lock ancestors. I have found my great grandfathers birth Abraham John Lock born Westminster 1843 and have got his parents names from his birth certificate, William and Susanna West. Unfortunately dead end as on the 1851 census Abraham is living with his uncle and aunt in a workhouse at Wishbech Union and I cannot find anymore info on his parents.

The other side of the coin is a John Smith soldier born Birmigham Warwickshire 1809/10 who went to India in 1830 aboard the James siddbald.
Again I can find no further records of him only the birth of his children in India. We know he married an Elizabeth Hall in India but cannot find out whether she was an Indian who took an English name or not and whether he returned home or stayed in India.

Further more I can trace Abraham John Lock now using the name John and his wife to a St Mary's Church Spring Grove Middlesex where he was working as a verger in 1889 to1895 but then he and his wife and youngest child dissappear. I cannot find anymore about them.|banghead|

I have been researching now for about 6 months but as I live on an island in Orkney I cannot visit Kew and I am retired disabled so limited funds cross out researchers. I would appreciate any tips to help me move forward and will apologise now for any mistakes I make whilst using the site. I am new to technology as well as researching. I have read the site a lot before braving joining and I must say I have already found it helpful.
I think I have babbled on enough now. So thank you all. LostLock
