Birth Records from Canada

Does anyone know how to order a birth record for someone born in Canada? I have one person on my line who was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1875. Is there some central online source or do I have to check with the government of the province?

I found the following name and date in a secondary source and would like to confirm it.

Lilian Rosina Scrivener born 3 July 1875 Toronto, York, Ontario.

Her father is Jabez Scrivener and her mother is Rebecca Scrivener (formerly Painter)
