searching for Jewish roots

Hi there, I'm new to this forum. I know my great grandmother's surname from my mother's side was DAVID. She was from Flanders and believe she married a Catholic. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to HOW SHOULD I START RESEARCHING WHETHER SHE WAS A JEW? I'm totally lost. Thanks

Do you have any more information that you could provide on your gt-grandmother? For example, her forename, roughly when was she born, have you found her in any census returns? - if so, where was she living and born? Do you have a marriage certificate for her?

Thanks for your reply. I sent a letter to the townhall where she was born (Moncoutant-in the French Province of Deux Sevres) asking for a birth certificate but have had no reply so far. I know her forename (Andrée) and roughly her date of birth. I could get hold of more details through my mother and aunt, but I do not know what is relevant and what isn't. At this point, what is the next step forward? Again, thanks.

Any information might be relevant. For anyone on the forums to suggest specific areas to look we'd need:

Her name and roughly when born.

If and when she arrived in this country.

Whom she married - do you know when and where? Do you have a marriage certificate for her?

Does she appear in the naturalisation records on TNA's catalogue?

The Jewish Genealogocial Society of Great Britain (http://www.jgsgb.org.uk/)may be able to suggest records that exist or are worth trying, for their faith.
