Hi, I am trying to find out a bit more on the beginning of WW1 my grandfather John McCarthy arrived in France 22 August 1914, he was in the Kings Royal Rifle Corp 1st Bn then later in 10th Where would he have been sent to & was still in in 1921 & was in the 3rd Bn,
I am trying to find out more about him I know the medals he received one was the Military Medal for bravery in the field France & that was in the London Gazette 23 Feb 1918.
I had paid for his army records about 7 years ago & was told they were destroyed in WW2 but what has puzzled me is that this doesn't apply if the person was in the army after 1918 & he was as he was in India 1920/21 as he in the KRRC Chronicle for both years in the boxing section where he was the batalion's trainer as well as a Bantam weight boxer.
So any help would be appreciated

My understanding is that soliders whose service ended after 1921 ar still held by the Army Personnel Centre:

It may be worth making an enquiry there.
