I have a tidy lot of ancestors with Henstridge connections and would really love some images of the district to add to my family file...Does anyone know of a good online source? I'm not having much success googling.
Had a quick Google ;) and found a site, barrie pictureswhich appears to sell old pictures of places around Dorset. Anyway if you go to barrie pictures there are several old photos which look quite interesting. Only trouble is you don't seem to be able to click on the pictures and enlarge them, maybe it is just a blip, or maybe the site is obselete....
Best wishes

There are a couple of websites with photos, I don't know if either has pictures of the area you want, but it's worth a try....

There's also,
www.
old-maps.co.uk
which as it indicates has old OS maps of the country at 6 inches to the mile. When you click on a place name, a small map is displayed, look to the bottom of the screen and you'll see links to enlarge the map and to view an aerial photo of the area. Copies of aerial photos can be purchased via

Hi Geoffers
Not much luck with any of sites mentioned. Any other ideas?
Books I might order in from interlibrary loan?
It might be worth your while getting in touch with the Somerset Archive and Record Record Service. Their web site is www.somerset.gov.uk/archives/ I know they have an on-line catalogue, whether or not there is anything on Henstridge , I don't know. They may be able to point you in the right direction as regards books, if they can't help you themselves.
Best wishes
