One of my ancestors is on board a Royal Navy Vessel on the 1901 Scotland census. I'm not sure if ED: Bellona, is the name of the ship. & I presume that the Sto next to occ is short for Stoker. The info I have access to is limited and I'm not sure if he is part of the Royal Navy or merchant Navy. Could someone please check this for me to see if I'm on the right track. His name is William Marsay (1875, Middlesbrough). I also wonder what the Registration number 903S means

Parish: Vessels; ED: Bellona; Line: 12; Year: 1901.

If it's a Royal Navy vessel then he would be RN as well.

Sto is indeed stoker and there was a cruiser at the time named HMS Bellona.

You can download his RN service record from Kew
