I have found several ppl with the surname I am serching in the Hailsham area and I would like to mail them a letter with a self addressed stamped envelope. However, I have no idea if a Canandian stamp would be accepted there or how much. I would need to use. I have contacted my home post office and they did not know. Can anyone tell me if I can do this?
thanks
Cindy

Ooh, I'm caught in a time warp :D This is a reply I used to write often 10-15 years ago before e-mail took over, and I had to double check that it still applied!
You certainly can't use Canadian stamps to send a letter from the UK. Depending on how many you need to send, you can buy sheets of UK stamps online and pay by credit card. But the IRC (International Reply Coupon) is apparently still alive and well :D

I believe that you should be able to get International Reply Coupons (IRCs) at a Post Office, which will cover the cost of return postage.

I just mailed a letter to my mother's cousin who is now in her 80's and enclosed a post office international money order in sterling. This can be exchanged for £ cash to cover costs of return postage via the sa envelope I enclosed. I was more than generous and sent £5.

I had similar problems
Try typing
International Reply Coupon
into BG Forum search box and you will find several threads regarding this topic.

anyways, thanks for info about "snail mail". Since I do not have these ppls email addys, I had thought assuming they all had email was presumptuous of me so I figured the old fashioned way was a start and then hopefully we could connect online. My own post office didnt not know of the international reply coupons so I will look into that. Thanks all
