These proved to be a good read, with more than a usual smattering of burials of unknown vagrants, or unidentified people found dead in the canal...
But these 3 successive entries in 1822 made particulaly interesting reading
23 Nov 1822 Edward NEEDLE aged 74 of Weston Turnpike in the Parish of Weston Turville
23 Nov 1822 Rebecca NEEDLE aged 65 of Weston Turnpike in the Parish of Weston Turville
The above man and his wife were found murdered in the above Turnpike House on Wednesday 20 Nov. The murderers were shortly afterwards apprehended and executed at Aylesbury on Thursday 6th Mar 1823.
followed immediately by
23 Nov 1822 Ann KINGHAM aged 9 of Aston Clinton, died in consequence of injuries she received by her cloathes catching fire.
It was interesting times in Aston Clinton, as only a little later people are dying after a fall from a scaffold pole, or are the victims of manslaughter, where the perpetrators are apparently again caught, (although their fate not given).
I'd no idea life was so eventful in these parishes!
I also quite like the following....
19 Jun 1863 Anna Maria BOROUGH aged 87 of Grafton St, Berkeley Square, London.
N.B. The vault belonging to the Lake family is quite full, and must not be opened again.
A bit of a squeeze to get her in there, I'm guessing.
