Marriage Look Up.

Hiya I am trying to find the marriage of my Great Great Granadad.
George Edmund Harris born 1839. he married Martha Moore.
i thought he was from Cumbria, Martha was from Salop Wellington.
just found out he was from Westbury Staffs. he is on the 1871 census.
i have searched to find what year he got married to martha without any luck so far. can anybody help me.

You say you've found him on the 1871 census - does this narrow teh serch down at all? - i.e. does the census show him as married, does he have children, what are their ages and where was the eldest born?

You write that you haven't had any luck trying to locate the marriage, what sources have you tried so far? Have you had a look at the GRO index of marriages? - The first place to try is the freebmd website (not complete, but free) http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
The GRO index is available on fiches at Local Studies' Libraries and/or County Record Offices, so you probably would'nt need to travel far to use it. Alternatively, you can search from home on the pay-per-view website 1837online.

Hiya Geoffers.
My mistake i found him on the 1881 census. www.familysearch.com (http://www.familysearch.com) it stated he was married born in 1839 aged 42.
George from Westbury Stafford.
Martha his wife from Wellington Shropshire 1840. they had five children. it looks like they had 3 of them in Stafford then the other two in Barrow in furness.
their Census place is Barrow.
I cannot find them on BMD.
George must of died young, Annie on here sent me the census page for 1901. and it stated Martha his wife was a widow at the age of 60.
the address he was living at in Barrow was 37, Parker Street. i found that out when i got my great grandads birth certificate. [ George was my GG. Grandad.]
hope this makes sense.
