I was idly Googling and came across a site 'Surname Interests around Newark' where I do have an interest.
Following a link I came to

a site with much information about Nottinghamshire, lists of surnames with links to researchers, pictures etc., but also a wealth of information on many other counties including Census and Strays.
Worth a look !!
