None of these people can be found on any 1891 census be it England, Wales, Scotland, Channel Isles, Ilse of Wight. I have tried Stewart, and variations of forenames to no avail. Edwin W P would not be on this census as he had died age 7, but all the rest should be together as they are on the 1901 census.

I have searched various census online but can not find them at all. I have started this search new as I couldn’t find them, months ago and I still can’t find them!

Any thoughts on this?|banghead|

|bowdown| to any ideas or findings!

I think the family is here:
RG12; Piece: 424; Folio 117; Page 57

The surname has been transcribed as GERNANT and Martha is EARTHA but otherwise the names and ages all fit. The enumerator's handwriting is just diabolical.

Yes, how many records have been misread, the man should have been a doctor.....

I had just started ploughing through all the records for Ellen with the fathers name Edwin to see if there were any possibilities...

lots of corrections to be sent to A.... then

Thank you!|bowdown|It must have taken hours to find them. And how you did it I don't know - I dread looking at the piece!

|hug||hug|for spending the time! I had been dreaming (again!) about how to approach this and decided to try first name only search when I restarted this morning. Many thank you's!:D

I started looking with Charles as he should have still been at home given his age. No wonder I didn't find it his name shows as CHOS, lol........

I have sent all the corrections and have gone back and forth several pages for street name - there is no listing on the first page - so guessed he was trying to write Stanley St. The S's are not like his L's. He must have been tired as it was at the end of his route almost. But all the other pages are terrible as well. I never thought to use wild cards either and I may still be looking anyway! Thanks to you both. You have saved my sanity! Now for the others looking for rellies on that census - good luck - some of the writing is dentist scrawl! And a huge disgrace! The transcriptionist had a hard time but didn't know how to read either!

You're very welcome, glad to help fellow researchers break down those frustrating brickwalls.

As for time, actually it took me less than a minute! There are a few tricks to it ... ;)
