It was suggested that I have the honour of producing a competition. I think this was because I gave a lot of cheek on the last one. And instead of just laughing off the suggestion, here I am having a go :D

BoPeep has kindly donated three 1901 census vouchers as prizes.

Please PM (Private Message) the answers to me.

The competition will close 18th February 2008.

In the case of more than three correct entries, the winners will be drawn at random from all correct entries.

Well, I'm all ready. I've got Wikipedia at the top of my bookmarks. :D:D

On a slightly more serious note, I would like to sincerely apologise to Bo Peep and Christine for publicly suggesting that Christine should do an Australian-based quiz. It was one of those 'heart in right place but foot in mouth and goodness knows where the brain is' moments, and should have been discussed by PMs first.

And a huge thank you to Bo Peep for the prizes after I had suggested a just-for-fun competition. And thank you also to Christine who had said that she thought she could provide a prize.

Am gradually working my way through but keep getting side tracked by all the fascinating things I didn't know about Australia. Should question 7 really say the hint is in Question 7?

No, should say hint in Q 8 (I shall edit it)

:D and my wicked intention was to sidetrack everyone! Glad you seem to be enjoying it.

Oh! I've been wondering where you were getting the questions from....now I find them at the beginning. They weren't there when I looked yesterday

Sorry Glenys, I put the questions in my first post so they would be seen, since there had been some replies on the thread. But I thought it would be tricky too |biggrin|

Is the answer to No. 3 - England ? ;)

Clever one! funny how they didn't want to go back when they had the chance!

I am posting the questions again - I do not have any complete correct entries as yet.

 2 number 9s!

I forgot that I had my own website where my Grandfather Robert Holland is mentioned - which Google loves. So I will accept either of two answers for Q9a. But my intention was that one would seek out his service file on the National Australian Archives - url given below.

I have added more qualifying information to Q11, as it would be misleading without it.
