My g/g/grandfather Robert Taplin, was Innkeeper of the Kings Arms, Corston, Somerset in the 1800`s. Does anyone have information on this inn, also what became of it? I can`t find any details of it any where. I only know Robert was the innkeeper through census information. Thankyou. Irene

Have you checked in Trade Directories? There are 28 Somerset directories covering the period from about 1840 to 1920 online and searchable at http://www.historicaldirectories.org/

Thankyou Hughar, for your information on the Historical Directories. I just found Robert Taplins name on a village directory, giving his name and Kings Arms Inn. That is all I could find. Thankyou for your help.

Hi Irene
The Kings Arms at Corston closed as a pub in 1971. Although now a residential dwelling, the original cellar and bar as still untouched, infact nothing has been altered and it is in the same state as probably when you gg grandfather was running it!! It is currently on the market and I can send you a link if you would like to see the pictures! All the best, Vicky
