Hi there
As I'm in Australia can someone please refresh my memory (or update me with current possibilities) for obtaining a DEATH CERTIFICATE for England for the year 1886........?
I've searched the FREE BMD and come up with a very likely candidate -
...
Amelia GALLAGHER, age 75, Oct/Nov/Dec qtr. 1886 Chorlton 8c 535
...
I realise that the ref. numbers have no relevance if sending to the Regn. District.
I'm also wondering about Parish Records......?
And Registrars for Parish Records.....?
I seem to recall that it was possible to send a cheque etc to the relevant registrar with all known details of the deceased, and that the cheque etc would be returned if the details didn't match those on their record....?
If so, how do I find out which Registration District for a death regd. in Chorlton (see above)?
Also - what are the current charges for GRO certificate, and through the District Registrar?
Can anyone "over there" help with this please...?
Thanks in advance
