I'm new to all this and this is my first day on this site. I have just been sent information that my family origins in Pershore started when a Solomon Annis moved to Pershore from Gloucestershire. When that happened I do not know but I have found a Solomon Annis born 1828 in Pershore so it must be before then. If anyone has any info about dear old Solomon I would be grateful to hear about it.
Cheers Dave.

What census yr did you find this information. Prior to 1837 there are no required registration of births/deaths/marriages - these are obtained thru parish records. Census didn't begin til 1841 and the 1841 don't really record sufficient info as to place of birth. www.familysearch.org is a good starting place for records prior to 1837 but unless they are documented as sourced (by a Batch file/Source file #) the information is unreliable, but it is a good place to start. Genuki has some parish records as well as Cyndi'slist.

There is a Solomon ANNIS in the 1851 census of Pershore who could be the generation before your Solomon:
HO107/2045, folio 239, page 13
Schedule 47, Newland
Solomon ANNIS Serv Mar 51 Ag Laborer Glostershire Alderton
The other occupant of the house is a Sarah THORNBURY who is described as a Servant in care of the house.
Your Solomon is shown on HO107/2045, folio 252, page 39
Head Street
Solomon ANNIS Head Mar 23 Agricultural Laborer Worshire Pershore
Ann do Wife Mar 20 do
Solomon do Son 1 do
Jane WOOLAMS Mother in law W 60 Laborer Pauper do
Jane do Sister in law Mar 28 do do
Henry do Brother in law Mar 26 Agricultural Laborer do
Solomon ANNIS senior is in the 1861 census of Pershore (RG9/2105, folio 38, page 23) living at Crow Row:
Solomon ANNIS Head 61 Ag Lab Carter Gloster Alderton
Ann do Wife Mar 61 Lab Worcester Pershore
Emma do Daur Unm 27 Gloveress do do
Stephen do Son Unm 19 Ag Lab do do
Ellen do Grandaur 7 mo
Henry do Brother ? 50 Ag Lab Gloster Alderton
There is a Solomon ANNIS in the 1841 census of Temple Guyting (HO107/360/9, folio 16, page 6) who is shown as aged 40 and not born in the county.
I have found the marriage between Solomon ANNIS and Ann WOOLAMS on the GRO Index. It was registered December qtr 1848 at Pershore registration district, vol 18, page 621. If you are sure that this Solomon is your ancestor, your next step should be to send for this certificate online at www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ quoting the details above and this will give you the father's names and professions of both bride and groom. If this certificate shows that your Solomon's father is indeed another Solomon then I would suggest a search through the parish records of Alderton, Gloucestershire.

Further to the above info., I have looked on the Gloucestershire Marriage Index and there are 3 male ANNIS (and variants) marriage shown:
10 September 1833 at Winchcombe Henry ANNIS of Alderton married Elizabeth GILLET by banns
13 September 1830 at Newent John ANNIS married Mary BALDWIN by banns
1 November 1824 at Compton Abdale Solomon ANNISS married Hannah SMITH by banns
This may come in useful to you at a later stage
