Hello.

I hope I managed to set the links up right.

These are two photographs, one on either side of a heavy brass locket. The two pictures rotate within the brass frame, so either one can face out. Does anybody have any idea where or when these would have been taken? Sorry, but they are a little grainy. I'm afraid to try to open the locket to try to get them out.

Thank you.

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

The clothing and photographic style looks to me like the original pics were taken in the 1850s - but they are probably later copies made for the lockets, as the originals would probably have been daguerreotypes or ambrotypes, which wouldn't fit into a locket terribly easily.

Best wishes,

Lenore
