Hi
I'm new and a bit lost! How much info can I ask about at once? Have been researching for 2 years on and off and have done quite well - without leaving my seat. Now have to work a bit harder as I'm pre 1837 on most branches.
At the moment I am looking at the JOSLIN(G) family in particular Thomas JOSLING b.1820 Beaford Devon who was a COASTGUARD on Brownsea Island according to 1851 census. By 1861 his wife Mary Ann (RIDER) b.1824 I.O.W is a widow in Sidmouth. I cannot find Thomas's death despite searching every quarter between those years. And every conceivable spelling! 1861 shows his girl children at an Industrial School in CHARDSTOCK and his younger son GEORGE CHARLES (my great grandad) at "barracks" in CHARDSTOCK.
So, any help? If Thomas died at sea and was not found how would his death be registered? (He may have just run off of course!) and CHARDSTOCK INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL - google was no help.
Yours Grace Helena
