I have found a James LECKIE in my family tree who was a van boy. He died in Glasgow aged 17 in 1909 of Cardine Disease.
Does anyone know what Cardine Disease is?
I have tried googling it and cannot seem to find an answer.
Thanks for any help

Could it not be "Cardiac Disease" badly written?

Like Sue, I would suspect cardiac disease (heart disease).
Where did you get the info from? If it is on a death certificate, perhaps if you could post a copy of the relevant part to a photobucket account or similar, and post the link here, we can take a look and attempt to decipher the writing?

Hi Janie. I can recommend the advice about posting an image of the mystery word. I was having problems with "Vale Choloca" until the wise and mighty informed me that it was "Vale Chelsea"

Especially relevant when it is a death certificate - they were filled out by GPs usually; and we all know about doctors writing!

Thanks for all your help.
On looking at the certificate I am pretty sure that the word is Cardiac. I'll try the photobucket.
Meanwhile I have contacted the local health board who would hold the records of his time in the Victoria Infirmary if there are any.

I have peered at, and pondered on the word in question (Janiegirl showed me the document) and think it is 'cardiac' - but am looking forward to reading other opinions.
