Could someone please look up the age and birthplace of my grandmother Jessie COPELIN who would be listed at 18 Windham Road, Bournemouth as the wife of the Head of Household, Thomas Noble COPELIN?

Did you intend to type 1951 or was it meant to be 1851?

The British censuses are only available before 1901.

If you did mean the 1851 census I was unable to find them.

Do you have any more information such as approximate year of birth?

Given that Hartwee is in his 70's he must have meant the 1851 Census and not the 1951 census. Unless she was still alive in 1951.

I have tried everything I can but cannot find any Copelin's in Dorest in 1851. Will have to wait for Hartwee to respond I suppose.

I think Harrtwee does mean 1951:

Thomas Noble COPELIN b Mar1884 Bromley 2a/489

Marriage Mar1909 Sherborne 5a/553:
Thomas Noble COPELIN
Jessie CLEMENTS

If only I could, mind a peek at the 1911 census would do me for now, it would answer so many unprinted questions.

1901 census Bournemouth

RG13/1042 fol60 p11

Thomas is living with parents at 18 Windbank Road.

John 47 b Stoke Newington - carpenter
Sarah 47 b Farnborough
Noble T 17 b Farnborough - grocer's boy

There are too many Jessie Clements (and none in Bournemouth) to be sure where/who she was. You will have to send for the marriage cert to get her maiden name and father.

Thanks, all you helpful people.
You are quite right, Davran, it was the 1951 Census I meant. I didn't realise at the time that Censuses are not available for 100 years. Of what possible use is that, it's crazy? All that money wasted on collection, and no useful info available immediately it is finalised?
But the info in the 1901 Census is interesting, in that it says my grandmother, Jessie, aged 47, was born in Farnborough. I have the marriage certificate, from Sandford Orcas, her stated residence, dated 7 Jan.1909, which states that David Clements, an ex-policeman, was her father.

But here the trail seems to end. Any pointers would be most welcome.

By the way, Procat, she was still alive in 1951.

Regards,
John

We have been trying to get access to the 1911 census earlier than January 2012 but this has not been forthcoming, well access is available but only with the exact adress and it costs £45 per search, so a costly exercise. At this rate the 1951 Census will not be available until 2052. The reason given for the 100 years is to protect potentially sensative information about people who are still alive.
