A few years ago i was looking at some old papers ( i cannot remember what) i know it was in a parish register for Yaxham Norfolk, all i can remember was that it stated ' YAXHAM RSQ ' any idea what RSQ means ??

Was/is the script a bit unclear...how about RSD. Rural Sanitary District,
though I am not sure how rural Yaxham is;).

Thanks for the reply, the original writing was not that clear, Yaxham is a small village close to East Dereham in Norfolk, a farming community, one church and 7 pubs, you could drive through the village in 5 mins.

RSD would normally be quoted in a census return not a Parish Register where it would more likely be a Latin ref.

That's very true, but I've seen all kinds of things amongst parish registers and records;).
