The address was probably Northcliffe Drive, Warrawong, which is close to Wollongong, and looks to be a very nice address on Lake Illawarra. Check it out here:
http://www.street-directory.com.au/sd_new/mapsearch.cgi
There are Bowmakers in the phone book in the area
http://www.whitepages.com.au/wp/initResSearch.do
The Postcode of Warrawong is 2502, and Wollongong 2500, so anything close to those postcodes could be relevant.
Uncle Mathew might still be plugging away, but just in case he isn't you might try the Wollongong Cemetery:
http://memorialgardens.wollongong.nsw.gov.au/deceasedsearch.htm
Immigration records are catalogued on the National Archives of Australia website, but I can't see any for Bowmaker - you might like to check yourself:
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch.aspx
If you could work out Mathew's wife's name, and the name of his children, it might help to pinpoint them.
Good luck,
Lenore

I've checked the Ryerson Index .... there is a funeral notice for an M Bowmaker which appeared in the Illawarra Mercury which seems to be the area you're looking at. I've pasted it below - no information of age. There are also several other Bowmaker's notices listed for the Illawarra.
BOWMAKER M Death notice 26SEP2002 Funeral Illawarra Mercury 26SEP2002

Overbrae could request a lookup in the paper for that entry. The link for the lookup is here http://www.ryersonindex.org/
You need to follow the instructions carefully, which entail joining the Sydney DPS (Dead Persons' Society) mailing list first, and then filling in the form requesting the lookup. Give it 24 hours for the mailing list thing before you send a request for the lookup, or your request might not get through.
With this date it would be worth contacting the Wollongong Cemtery just in case it is Matthew who was buried.
Best wishes,
Lenore

Thank you for the helpful information. I have joined the Dead Persons Society. Please accept my apologies for not thanking you sooner.
