Hello and welcome to the B-G forums.
There may be some record in a newspaper of a wedding, but your best hpe of finding information which will further your research is to obtain a copy of the marriage certificate.
A marriage certificate will include:
Date and place married, whether by banns or licence.
Groom and bride's names, ages, marital statut, address, fathers' names and occupations.
Whether groom and bride signed or made a mark.
Witnesses signatures or their names and marks.
Try searching freebmd (http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl) to see if the marriage is included there. Double check any entry you find against the original GRO index. A scan of he original image may be available on freebmd.
If you find an entry, copies of certificates can be ordered from the General Register Office GRO (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/)

In addition to what Geoffers has stated, you could also search (and find AND order) on the lancashirebmd site. Is there a possibility that it was a Roman Catholic marriage? If so, it may be possible to view films of the PRs at Manchester Central Library. See the link below for records for all C on M church records held at MCL.

Of course it may well have been a civil marriage.
