Re: Cooper Wallace 241778 Pte. F. & F. 09/10/1917 1/7th
I am in possession a photograph of Pte Cooper, several letters from the front to his brother in Canada, 1916- one Oct 4 1917 a few days before he died. There a Military postcards, hand drawn postcards, a letter from a Capt. Prescott answering his brothers letter asking for details of his death. I looked him up at the War Graves Commission and he missing - the letter says he is buried on the battlefield and it will be consecrated as a military cemetery, along with J.A. Acworth, Platoon Commander; Capt. Hoare, Commander.
Pte.Wallace Cooper b. abt. 1894 was from Kidderminster, Worcester, his brother was Herbert Cooper, who immigrated to Canada and married Bertha Picken, also from Kidderminster. I have the birth certificate of their daughter Edith May born 179 Dark St. Feb. 26, 1916 and Bertha's passport. There is a letter from a family friend giving comfort to Herbert Cooper. And the very moving poem written by Herbert Cooper called the Worcesters at Gheluvelt. One letter states that Pte. Cooper had married Ethel on leave.
These precious things were about to be thrown out and should go back to a family member, if possible. Any chance you can help?
