Hi

My brickwall is James Bougen (Boughen) born 1755 in Runcton Holme, Norfolk. Married Elizabeth Ashby born 1758 in Stow Bartolph.

Any ideas how to find their ancestors?

Parish registers will be your first port of call. These principally record baptisms, marriages and burials. Have you used such registers before, do you know where to find them and what they record? If not, you may need some help as to what may be found.

When the couple married, what does the marriage register record? Were either minors and does the register then mention either father? Was the marriage by banns or licence?

Were their children all born in one parish, or did the family move around?

An idea what the families did for a living?
