I recently signed up with Tribal Pages and requested some translation support.
The link is http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and is useful in translating a portion of text or a whole web page into any language you want. There are many languages to choose from and even has an alternative keyboard.
I needed it for a French cousin to be able to read my web site

If you have the Google tool bar just go to settings, options and check the translate box and it will come up on the toolbar, then if you need to translate a page just click on the translate button. I use it a lot as I do parchment craft and some of the instructions for the patterns are in Dutch,German or Spanish and the translator is so easy to use.

If you use Mozilla Firefox there are a couple of add-ons that can be used as web translators. I found them to be invaluable when I was doing a bit of digging aroung my husband's Swedish ancestry.

Well if you want to see what an absolute hash computers can make of translation (and have a really good laugh), have a look at this thread.

It occurs to me that perhaps we should all mention what languages we speak - you never know when someone might need help with translation.
Though not as fluent as I was in my youth I can make a reasonable stab at French, Russian and Swedish, and I know people who can translate German, Italian, Hungarian, Dutch, Afrikaans and Welsh.
I'm sure Mutley can help with Portuguese. Anyone else?

I am desperately trying to learn Greek. Greek is now occupying the (small) language space in my brain that used to be occupied by school-girl French
I could certainly find someone here who could translate any Greek documents anyone has.

Schoolgird French (I've forgotten more than I learnt) and a little Dutch. The problem with my Dutch lessons that were taken about 20 years ago, is that everytime we meet up with our Dutch friends, they want to speak English!!
