hi im trying to trace ellen eliza taylor, she was my nan's mother. my nan was bessie ellen taylor she was born in 1912wandsworth clapham. her mother ellen lived at 16 coarland grove clapham ans a dress maker. i was told that my nan was brought up by her aunt elizabeth austin wells and william wells, as her mother had anaffair with a high ranking police man, who was posted near by. bessie married alfred hoare and their son roy followed in her fathers footsteps and was in the police force|snore|
here is where i need help can any one guide me where i could go to find anything that might well help??i do have taylors in the family ellen austin taylor married to john phillip taylor they had sons john j taylor (1883-1927|banghead|)and george t taylor(1885)
if any one has any ideas it would be great thanx karen|bowdown|

You do not say where they lived. I though perhaps Clapham but I cannot find anything for that are, however there are possible candidates for other London Boroughs.
I have found the marriage John Philip Taylor to Ellen Austin Lamb Oct-Nov-Dec 1881 in Wandsworth vol 1D page 935.

Karen I tried looking at the census records it would appear that Ellen was born in Worcester.

John Lamb was her brother, born in Oxford.
I could not find records for 1901 hope this helps

hi thanx for info i can not find much info in the taylors,i am especially keen to find somthing on ellen eliza taylor i do not know if she is a daughter to ellen and john or married to one of the children, i have found in some old family stuff that john j taylor(1883 battersea) died in 1927 of a brain tumor, i have no idea if he was married etc. his brother george t taylor(1885 battersea) i can not find a thing on after 1891

Do you know what the initials stand for as this would help narrow down the possible suspects. There are several likely candiates for the marriage of John J but to save you money in getting marriage certs that turn out to be incorrect, likewise with George.

another though Karen, do you know who registered John's death. It could be that she registered his death or if they had children it ciould be one of them. Death Certificates can sometimes fill in gaps.

hi thanx the full name was john Joseph Taylor and i only have his brother as George t Taylor. i did get the death certificate for john but there was a coroners hearing and he signed the death certificate as i did think i could trace relatives that way

Have you been able to find who registered the death or was that also the coroner?
that narrows it down to three.
