If you don't get any help here you could try the Devon Family History Society Web-site they have a message board.
I hope this helps.

Hi Jill
I have put a post on there but not much success yet, one reply was that she may not actually have been born in Devon it may have been put down as the nearest place, which will make her even more hard to track down

I presume you have her birth in Plymouth ca 1806 from the 1851 census at
HO107; Piece: 1566; Folio: 605; Page: 22?
In 1861 RG9; Piece: 337; Folio: 169; Page: 17 the family is still in Newington with Henry, Richard and Mary still at home and a six year old boarder called George TAIT. Joseph's place of birth is given as London St.Martin's and Ann's as Plymouth Do.Do. Is there a St. Martin's in Plymouth? Looks as if she was definitely born in Plymouth.

Hi Sue
Yes i do have the census. I had a look at Devon and there is a St Martins there. I shall have to try the Devon Family History message boards again. The last question i put on there had disappeared and i never made a copy of the replies as i didnt realise this would happen.
Thanks

Hi Karen
Can you tell me where you think St Martins is in Plymouth? I come from Plymouth and do not know of it, there was a St Martins School on the Barbican so it might be in that area. Plymouth is usually broken down into St Andrews, Charles etc.

As I read it Joseph comes from St Martins, London and Ann comes from Plymouth.
If Ann had come from that area of Plymouth it would have been referred to as Pennycross or Plymouth not St Martins

Here is the family in 1841
Joseph Richardson 33 Engineer Y
Ann Richardson 34 N
Isabella Richardson 13 Y
Ann Richardson 11 N
Emma Richardson 8 Y
Joseph Richardson 6 Y
Clara Richardson 4 Y
Jane Richardson 8 Mo Y
Conants Place, Back Church Lane, Whitechapel, Middlesex
HO107/716; Book: 11 ED 11 Folio: 34 Page: 27
The St. Martins you found in Plymouth refers to a crypt that was dedicated in 1910, over 100 years after Ann's birth. You need to concentrate your search on Plymouth St Andrew, Plymouth Charles, or possibly Pennycross.
A John & Jane HOLE baptised 3 daughters at Plymouth Charles 1813-1815, so that could be a possibility. You'd have to have someone search the earlier PRs.
