We are trying to progress the Paternal line of GLADYS TURNBULL née HALL.

We know for certain is that she died on 23 May 1996 in the District Hospital, South Shields. Her usual address was JARROW, TYNE AND WEAR. Her date and place of birth are given on the death certificate as 11 May 1910 and Jarrow, Tyne and Wear.

She married HERBERT BOLAM TURNBULL, Clerk on 19 June 1937 in the Parish of St.Peter, Jarrow aged 27 years. Herbert Bolam Turnbull was 26 years. Her residence at the time of the marriage and I believe for quite sometime afterwards was CROFT TER, JARROW. Details regarding her father are omitted.

We have been searching for the correct birth entry and certificate for over 8 months now without success. Any pointers please.

What do you know about her mother? Did she have any siblings?

........and similar registrations in Sunderland and Easingtion in June and Sept 1910 (the information on birthplace in the death certificate may be inaccurate).

We know nothing of her mother or father, except CROFT TER, JARROW may have been the family home. It no longer exists, it was demolished to make way for future developments in Jarrow. Gladys Hall was an only daughter as far as we know.

CROFT TER, JARROW

Croft Terrace, presumably.

It no longer exists, it was demolished to make way for future developments in Jarrow.

I don't know about that...

Interestingly, in the 1901 census, there is a HALL family living in Croft Terrace. Quite possibly a red herring - HALL is hardly an unusual name.

By the way, Croft Terrace was in the parish of St Paul, Jarrow.

Yes the street exists, but the actual house was pulled down to make way for Council Residences.
