In 1892 Alexander Stringer married Alydia Timmins in Aston. I can't find any other record of her anywhere. I think her (rather odd) name may be a mistake. They did have two children Alexander-1893 and Florence-1895, but 'Alydia' as dead by the 1901 census, so I can't track her down.
Any ideas?

From the marriage certificate, what was her age, martial condition, address and her father's name and occupation? - Also did any of the witnesses have the surname Timmins' With this information it may be possible to trace them in the 1881 census

Aah well, I haven't actually got round to ordering the certificate, I was going from the results to a search on FreeBMD. this cert is on a long list, and I have to ration myself over the months so the kitties can be fed.
However in 1901 Emma Timmins age 74 was a boarder with the Stringer family (alexander, his children, parents and brothers and sisters). I did assume that Emma was Alydia's mother, which led to a family headed by david and Emma Timmins, that I could track through the censuses from Stourbridge/Dudley up to Widnes. But at no time did they have a daughter Alydia with them. Just an Emily and Ellen. I'm beginning to favour the idea that Emma may be some other relation of Alydia's.

I appreciate that it isn't always possible to order certificates with other financial pressures - however - when you do have some spare dosh, you need two certificates, i.e.
1) birth certificate of one of the couple's children, which will confirm the parents' names (and mother's maiden name)
2) From there you can apply for a copy of the marriage certificate. It would be very unwise to base research on assumptions made on searching freebmd.

Have you tried the name Lydia?? Or the name Alicia
I was thinking the A or the D could be a misprint or a mistranscription.
