I'm trying to trace members of the Bunker family that gave rise to my grandmother Nelly Bunker(1893), daughter of Thomas (1853)and Mary, grandaughter of John (1810) and Abiatha. I know a fair amount but they had large families that are easy to lose track of.
Some of Thomas siblings went to Doncaster, and John was born in Jermyn St, St James Westminster.
Nearly all the men in the family were wheel wrights. But Johns parents John and Martha ran the Red Lion in Jermyn St.
Any info gratefully received.

Have you looked at A2A http://www.a2a.org.uk/search/doclist.asp?nb=0&nbKey=2&com=1&keyword=bunker&properties=0601
There are 51 references to BUNKER in the Beds & Luton archives.
Some of them may be yours.

Thank you, I wasn't aware of that site. I've had a quick look at those references, but it's impossible to say that none of them are applicable without going through the names dates and places carefully. I see many more sleepless nights on the horizon.

I have a transcript of the parish register of Shefford. ( Campton cum Shefford). 1568-1812. No trace of Bunker in this period. They were probably just passing through :-)

Hi Jackie,
I'm researching the Millard family in Bedfordshire. I've got a Stephen Millard marrying Martha Bunker in Eversholt, 9/9/1867. Martha's father is Job Bunker. The information came from the Church of the Latter Day Saints site.

Hi,
I know that the thread is a bit old now but I have both Millards and Bunkers in my family tree from the Eversholt area they are all linked in the Oakley, Chance and Deacon family tree. Have a look at the Hails / Chance tree on Rootsweb.com the tree was posted by a cousin
Regards Tim
I also have the Bunker name in my tree. Mostly from the Marston area and Wooton Pillinge.
They merge with my Copperwheat families.
Albert married to Emily Copperwheat and children--Winifred,Ernest,Frederick.Gladys,Arthur & Phyllis
Also a Barbara,Alan James,Doreen, children of Frederick Albert Bunker b 1913 & Dorothy Copperwheat.

I have an Elizabeth Copperwheat married William Chance 1750 any link to yours? It seems that most of the Bedford families are interelated in some way
regards Tim
Hello Tim,
I have a lot of Copperwheats in Bedfordshire. can't see an Elizabeth married to a Chance though i'm afraid, but you never know with this family!
My earliest Copperwheats are Williams. W. Copperwheat b 1707 Marston, married to Ann Miller, his son William b 1730 Oakley married to Elizabeth Barton. Their children were Samuel, Ann,Thomas,Charles all b Ampthill.
Regards Ella.

Wasn't the William who married Elizabeth Barton baptised on 30 Jan 1730/31 in Ampthill, rather than Oakley? The Oakley family seem to have been a separate branch, predating the Marston Copperwheats - or perhaps the Ampthill/Marston families originated in Oakley, which are the earliest Copperwheats in Beds

A couple of good sites that may be of interest are http://blars.adlibsoft.com/beginner/indnms.html and http://apps.bedfordshire.gov.uk/grd/ the latter is great if your family have a criminal inclnation :).

I've looked again at the IGI and --yes, you are right--William 1731 was born /baptised in Ampthill. Son of William & Ann. This entry was an extracted one that is usually more reliable than a submitted entry!! BUT the surname for this entry was CopperWAITE The William CopperWHEAT entry was a submitted one for 1730 so is possibly 'iffy' Ella.
p.s These Copperwheats are giving me a headache.
