Hi,
I've been researching both sides of my family for a couple of years now and have encountered a small puzzle. Most of my information has come from various sources, so I don't know what's been previously confirmed!

My GGG Grandfather, William Child Iles was apparently born in Fairford, Gloucestershire in 1836. I believe his parents were Nicholas Roch Iles (1801 - 1839) and Charlotte Penny (? - 1839). I also understood the father was an auctioneer.... However!
I've noticed on the 1841 census online a Nicholas Iles (auctioneer, age 40), William C Iles (5) and Susan Miller (60)?? Is this Nicholas another?
I have not been able to find any further information indicating his family, or if there is any one else in this family. Am also curious on his parents deaths, as they're within the same quarter of the same year. What happened that year?

William emigrated to New Zealand in 1860 on the "Bosworth" where the mysteries deepen! (1st wife died 1 day after my GG Grandmother was born).

I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of the Fairford area around this time, or indeed if anyone knows what happened to this family.

Looking forward to browsing this site a bit further!
