I have a great uncle who emigrated to Canada, where (I'm told) he became a lumberjack, in the 1920/30s.
As he had lived in Oxfordshire, can anyone suggest the port from which he would have sailed?
Grateful for any advice - he did return to England, but little is known about his life while he was in Canada.

It could have been anywhere. I have one who lived in Sunderland and sailed from a London Port.
Maybe if you post his name someone might come across him when searching the Ships Lists.

Thank you, Mutley
I now have his name, Jim/James Pearce and am told he emigrated soon after WW1.
He lived in Nova Scotia with his wife and daughter but, at some point, they returned to the UK (Glasgow) without him and he returned, to Oxfordshire, in 1948.
I don't know whether he married before he travelled to Canada but do know that he had no further contact with his wife and daughter after they returned to Glasgow - hopefully I'll be able to find more information about them.
