Hi I am searching for information on my Great grandad, John William Francis, regtl. no. 95303 rank Lce Bombadier.
Inforamtion I have is: Unit and Regiment of Corps from which tranferred to Reserve "Y" regimenet RGA
Attested on the 9th of December 1915
Called up for Service on the 29th of May 1916
and transferred to Army reserve September 25, 1919
What does all this mean??? Did he serve in active duty in WW1??? Where??, and how can I find out???
Any information would greatly be appreciated.

I have a relative James Hender who served in the RGA, he was a Gunner in the 105th Siege Battery and was killed at Ypres.
I found this website helpful

Hi Ann,
if you go here:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/militaryhistory/medals/?homepage=mh-medals
you can purchase his medal card.
The type of medals he was awarded will confirm if he had service overseas.

Hi Ann,
You need to have Adobe Acrobat installed to do the download.
If you return to the link I gave you, then click on Campaign Medals, then Documents online (the same steps you would have taken originally) then at the top of the page (just below the red toolbar) and to the right there is a link to Help&FAQ. Click on that then scroll down to technical information.
Hopefully that will resolve your problem.
If you still can't get it to work at the bottom of the Help&FAQ page is contact information.

Parental Controls????
I'm flabbergasted that a software program could see a danger to children lurking in a medal card.|shakehead
