My main interests are my (late) mum's side of the family who all came from Norfolk so my names are Haines, Ramm & Knowles. On my (late) dad's side I have Beanlands (Yorkshire) & Davies (Glamorgan & thereabouts, Wales). I'm doing Ok with mum's side & dad's on the Beanlands side but looking for Davies's in Wales is a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack! My gg grandmother was called Arabella Bowen which helps as it's not quite as common as Davies. I'd be really pleased to hear from anbody who might be able to help me.
Thanks everybody |help|

We had a chat a couple of years ago about HAINES, have a look at

I don't suppose there is any connection???

If not whereabouts are your HAINES, RAMM and KNOWLES families from?
We have forums covering the whole of the county, where you can post messages. If you're not sure which one to use, please ask - or post a query on an of them and if need be I'll move it to the correct one.

Hi Geoffers,
I am a Norfolk dumpling but have lived in Yorkshire for the past 40 odd years. Thanks for sharing that thread with me. My Haines, Ramm & Knowles came from the Bale area of Norfolk and there were a lot of them. The Haines and Ramms are confusing as they seemed to interchange the surname which can make finding them difficult. Charles Ramm (born 1801 in Field Dalling) emigrated to Ontario, Canada although I haven't followed this line too much so far.
I do look at the Norfolk pages.
Forgot to mention that Clark(e) is another of my Norfolk names (my great granmother ie my gran's mum) but I haven't yet done anything much with that line.
Cheers,
Wendy
