My great uncle went to Canada from England in 1911 at that time he was a porter on the railway. In Canada he again worked on the railway. Thanks to some very kind people on this forum I know quite a lot about him. From directories I find that he was a checker for the CPR frieght deprartment living in52rd Av. East in Vancouver in 1915 and 1920. By 1924 he is in Dawson being initiated into the Freemason lodge 43 Yukon lodge. He died in 1960 back in Vancouver.
Looking at the CPR websites there appears to be no way of finding out about his service so does anyone know
1 would he still have been working for the CPR in Dawson?
2 might he have gone to Canada on an emigration programme sponsored by the CPR?
3 which newspaper would have been around in Dawson in the 1920s 19050s?
Regards
