date of canadian census 1911

Does anyone know on which day the 1911 census of Canada took place please?
My great uncle sailed from England on 20 April 1911 to Quebec.

A Google search reveals several sources that say the effective date of the 1911 Census was 1st June.

Thanks for that. I can't find him on this census and I thought he may have missed it it looks as if he wasn't counted.:)
