Can any one help me, my Great Grand father Charles Farnell married Sarah Mercy Fowles,16 July 1856 St Mary Lambeth. on his marriage certificate he states, that his father was "Richard Thomas White Farnell, or Richard White Farnell a Broker."
I can not move my research on until i establish where he was born and when he married, the only suitable candidate i have found so far is a Richard White Farnell who married Harriet Ann Brookes 4th August 1799 St George, Martyr, London. it's possible that they are both one of the same person.
I have searched most of the south London Archives with out success.

Hi Tim,
I don't know if this is of any help or if it will muddy the waters.
A couple of children to Richard and Harriet/Harriot were christened at St George the Martyr, Southwark, IGI Batch 022441, source 0307690
Sarah born 12 June 1800, ch 13 July 1800
Elizabeth Ann (recorded as Farnele) ch 13 November 1803
I know that women seemed to go on for 20 years or more giving birth (I have several instances in my own family), but if your Charles was born to this couple about 1823/4, he was a very late baby!|blush|

Hi Jane
Thanks for your help it’s much appreciated however I do have the original parish baptisms, for the two you mention plus a third child they were the children of Richard & Harriet Farnell. I assume that Richard! Is Richard White Farnell.
1) Farnell Sarah 12 Jun 1799 St Gorge the Martyr
2) Farnell Elizabeth Ann 13 Nov 1803 St Gorge the Martyr
3) Farnell Richard Thomas 13 Jul 1807 St Gorge the Martyr
It’s possible that Harriet, has died some time between 1807 & 1813 as we have
Been unable to find any other children of Richard and Harriet, born in the above parish from 1807 onwards. We continued to search the surrounding parishes within the vicinity of St Gorge the Martyr, Southwark, for any mention of Richard and Harriet with out success. However we did find Richard and Sarah Farnell, living in the parish of, St Mary Newington, and from the parish baptism records, we found six children of Richard and Sarah Farnell. It’s possible that he is Richard White Farnell, the late husband of Harriet, who has died prior to his second marriage to Sarah, I have not found this second marriage yet, or when Harriet, died.
Charles Farnell was born 12 April 1824 and was baptised in the workhouse on 22 May 1836 the son of Richard and Sarah Farnell, no occupation was given to his father only that he was deceased. It’s likely his father died some time between 1824 and 1836. I have found one Richard Farnell of Chatham Place, St Mary Newington, and London. Who died 11 April 1832; aged 56 just could be the father of Charles.
Kindest Regards Tim
