|wave| Hello Every one: I'm Mari (Mary) |laugh1| Was Hoping to get some Help. I have been looking into my Family Tree and have made it back to Samuel Satterly born 25 Dec. 1745 Yarcombe, Devon England. Died 16 July 1833 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio USA. I am pretty sure He was Christened on 8 Febuary 1746. listed by the LDS. Married Sarah Seely about 1780 in Chester, NY she was born about 1750 in Setaudet, Suffolk, NY Died 1827 in Castine,Darke County Ohio USA. I am looking to go back as far as I can. I have Census and LDS records up to this point. I Believe his Father was WILLIAM SATTERLY born 2 Jan 1706 in Bickington,Yarcombe, Devon, England He Married Jane Turpin 17 Nov 1724 in Highweek, Devon, England. Their Children were Samuel 1745, Lidya 1749 and William 1754 all born in Yarcombe. Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated :D
I would love any information or directions on where to get it. Having a very hard time figuring out where to look and how to look it up. I have checked ship registers and I am lost. Maybe it was spelled differently. is there a birth or death records for yarcombe? it would be around the year 1705 and are christenings usually done that late? ( like on Samuel) Thank You So Much
Mari. Have A Great Day.

You mention fidnign information on the LDS - is this from the IGI or some other online source; or is it from using original parish records?

If you have found information on the IGI, you now need to confirm the detail. Parish registers or the annual copy made (these can either be Archdeacon's Transcripts, abbreviated to AT, or Bishop's Transcripts, abbreviated to BT) can often be seen on microfilm hired at mormon church (LDS) record centres.

Devon Record Office uses Access to Archives to index its holdings.

Try searching on Yarcombe and also try a search on the surname SATTERLEY at Devon Record Office. This mightg give you some ideas

If you haven't already found it, GENUKI is a good place to browse to get a better idea of what is available for any given county in the UK. This is the URL for Devon

The National Archives (TNA) has a section called Documentsonline
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/default.asp
where you can search and download certain records for a small fee. You might try the section on wills - this only covers PCC (Prerogative Court of Canterbury) wills, but may be worth a search. Fromt eh above URL, click on 'home' and look to the left of the screen for various guides to help get started.
