MADEFORD in LIFTON

Hi there, I am hoping that someone can help me with a birth. John Madeford born in Lifton, Devon about 1829. No idea of parents names though.:)

The nearest I can find is a John Maddaford, aged 15 in the 1841 Census (age possibly rounded), son of John, 55, Sawyer, and Grace, 45, with a sibling Andrew, aged 12. All resident in Lifton. Another Maddaford family (William, Jane and children) lived close by.

If you want a transcription of both families, I'd be happy to do it.

Quite a few Maddaford names in Lifton in 1841.

There is a marriage on FREEBMD which 'may' be yours - you would need to obtain a birth certificate of one of John & Caroline's children to confirm her maiden name:
