The NAOMI site is unique. It enables you to check whether or not there are any memorial inscriptions which are relevant to your researches. If there are none, then you pay nothing. If you find what you want, then you can download, and print out if you wish, not only the inscriptions themselves, but also a brief description of the memorial, a photograph of the church or chapel, a plan of the burial ground, and usually some historical information as well. For this, you pay a fee of between £4 and £7, depending on how much information you choose to retrieve from what is available. Have a look at it -the address is: www.memorialinscriptions.org.uk (http://www.memorialinscriptions.org.uk). Try the demo, which shows you what you might find!

At present, the site contains information, from 544 burial grounds from Norfolk and Bedfordshire. There are already over 150,000 names on the site and we are adding more every few weeks. Most of these are from Church of England parish churchyards, but there are some non-conformist ones, some cemeteries and some war memorials. The more the site is used, the more quickly we shall be able to expand the database!
