I have two "How to?" questions for the more seasoned listers, just in case there's a simpler or less expensive alternative to my hiring a local researcher that I've missed. I have found that quite a few of my 18th and early 19th century ancestors (e.g. HOW, TROOD, NORRISH, LOVECRAFT) were residents of Broadhempston. I'm working from Canada, so my options sadly don't include visiting Devon archives or churches in person.
1) Are there any listings in any form (book, CD, etc) of Broadhempston baptisms between the mid 1700's and the year 1813, when the Devon FHS indices (excellent!) begin their coverage? Are there any for neighbouring Woodland parish?
2) Via the Devon FHS indices, I have found the essential details of many early Broadhempston marriages and other events for which I'd like to obtain a copy or scan of the corresponding register page. Is there a simple way to order these, or does this require hiring a researcher and sending him/her off to Exeter?
Many thanks!
