The internet is a wonderful thing - this forum demonstrates how wonderful it can be, with everyone helping each other at a few clicks on a mouse.
I stumbled across the site below, which is the Telecommunications Industry history site, plotting communication through the ages to the present day.

If you follow the links, you will find archived interviews of people who have worked in the industry, telling of their experiences and how life has changed over the years. It can give quite a flavour of how things once were - especially to younger researchers. You can either listen to the interviews or read the transcripts.
As my father worked for BT, I threw his name into the search engine and found 2 interviews - neither of which he had told me about! :confused:
I can tell you - it was a bit of a shock to hear dad's voice suddenly coming from my laptop! :eek:
He was involved in the Enigma code in the last war and once told the Queen to get off the line - and he'd kept quiet to me about both of these events...tuh!
Dad has this year decided to arrive in the 21st century and is now connected to the internet himself - not a bad decision for an octogenarian!
