Hi
I am new to this kind of thing so I hope I can remember all the instructions on the invitation.
Although I no longer live in Sussex, all my ancestors have very strong links with Brighton and Hove in the 1840's to date.
Main family name is YEATES and there is a family legend that says a grandfather was nearly 7 feet tall and a mariner.
I have family with the names ANSELL, HOLMAN and MITCHELL.
Occupations seem to range from bootmaking to seamstress and laundrymaid for the ladies and train driver on the LBSC railway to bakers and fisherman for the men.
The majority of Baptisms and marriages were carried out in St Nicholas Church, Brighton or Cliftonville Congregational Church in Hove.
If I have a problem it is that there are so many of them it is hard to be certain I am following the correct family line. Any tips on that is more than welcome.
The other problem is finding George Henry Yeates parents and date/place of birth and registration. All I have is his son Thomas Yeates marriage certificate to Elizabeth Haffenden, in the Cliftonville Con. Church on 18 April, 1887. He was deceased then but his profession is given as Labourer.
Any help or tips is more than welcome.
Many thanks
